Version 2 of Cool Beans System Info includes a Network Stopwatch which allows you to clock your Internet downloads:

The above example shows the stopwatch running.  In the last 18 seconds, the user downloaded 559.4 KB and uploaded 97.3 KB.  The average rate is updated every second.
